Here’s the thing-my love of Clix is at an all-time low, and let’s face it, you guys aren’t exactly clamoring for more of my villainous ventures. Plus, summer is always a season for other things than sitting around the gaming store’s dingy backroom tables and rolling dice. So to that end, this will be my last official update for a while. Unless things change, which of course, they are welcome to do.
So let’s finish this party with a bang!

The Caper:

700 points, minimum 400 Marvel. Golden Age, no feats or BFCs (so technically Silver Age), battle for the Gem. As an aside, those damn Gems and that damn Gauntlet are a big part of my distaste for the game now. Heroclix has always been “poker night with the guys” to me. Build a fun looking team, see how you do. Nowadays though? If you’re not playing the newest, deadliest pieces, you’re going to get your ### handed to you on a butt-shaped platter. Adding in the fact that WK’s rapid release schedule means I haven’t picked up a single GG Colossal yet means I’m going into a gunfight holding a knife. Making matters worse, the four boosters of GG I’ve opened haven’t held a single Chase Thanos. So I’m not gonna be able to pull off Cheesnos’s Yank and Gank maneuver. The hell with it. I’m playing my favorite group of villains. Now that I’ve got the ringleader, I’ll find out how prepared they are to fight for Mutant Supremecy-in space!

The Crew:
gx053 V Magneto
Team: Brotherhood of Mutants

(Special) Magnetic Field: Magneto can use Energy Shield/Deflection. When Magneto uses the Carry ability, he can carry up to 4 characters. Modify Magneto's combat values by +1 if he's occupying a square that contains a debris marker.

(Attack) Magnetic Mastery: Give Magneto a power action. Magneto can use Telekenesis twice as a free action. If Magneto uses Telekenesis option 3 increase the damage dealt by 2.

(Defense) Magnetic Shield: Magneto can use Toughness. Characters halve their range values when Magneto is one of the targets of their attack.

He never showed up in my 3 Bricks + of GSX, and cost me a pair of mid-range chases. If this be my end, then let me make such an end as to be sung about in tales of valor! Magneto (who will always be Erik Lensherr, no matter what Marvel might have retconned) is possibly the best villain in Marvel Comics. His motivations are pure, rational, and realistic-his people are threatened with imprisonment, violence, and genocide because they were born different. This isn’t a nutcase who likes shooting people or a vain megalomaniac who can’t stand the fact that the science nerd got the pretty girl, or even just a power-crazed corporate crazy with bad hair. Magneto is a villain because the “good” people in society are wrong. And let’s face it-he’s pretty much terrifying. Despite my complaints about the Gauntlet up top, he’ll be arriving on the map wearing it, Time, Soul, and Power.

(Special) Mystical Helmet: At the beginning of the game, place a helmet token on this card. While that token is on this card, Juggernaut modifies his defense by +1 and can't be targeted by Incapacitate, Mind Control, and Penetrating/Psychic Blast. When Juggernaut takes 3 damage from a single attack, remove the token.

(Special) The Irresistable Force: Juggernaut ignores hindering terrian for movement purposes, and automatically breaks away.

(Speed) Nothing Can Stop the Juggernaut: Juggernaut can use Charge and doesn't halve his speed value when using it. When he moves due to his own action along a straight horizontal or vertical path, he ignores all terrain except elevated terrain for that action. After actions resolve, destroy each wall and square of blocking terrain crossed by his path of movement.

Here’s the solution to all that horrible blocking terrain on the Space Track. Juggs here will give Magneto plenty of Hindering terrain to stand in, and might get tossed out to wreck house if my opponent plays aggressively.

(Defense) Animalistic: Sabretooth can use Combat Reflexes and Super Senses.

Erik’s other enforcer; Creed here brings amazing combat values, and is quite possibly the most dangerous threat on the board if someone plans on hiding behind soft, squishy defenses.

On a 5 or 6, deal 2 unavoidable damage to an adjacent opposing character. On a 6, deal 1 damage to each adjacent opposing character. Apply all applicable results, which may be split among different characters.

Dark Beast here may not be entirely comic accurate, but he provides incredibly mobile Outwit, pushable Perplex, and potentially nasty tie-up if he can survive a hit.

Magneto’s occasionally do-gooder daughter is the best 35 point stealthed turret around. 8 attack is garbage, and 2 damage in this format is laughable, but maybe someone forgets about that 10 range and parks a support piece up close. And if not, hey, PC is one of the best powers around.

What did I just say? PC is one of the best powers around, and knowing my dice, I’ll need both of these ladies to keep my shots true.

The Conclusion:

Round 1? Ziran, R Destiny, Elixir, and the Gauntlet. On Ziran, of course. I could pass three tests, but failed all of the ones he landed on. Two damage each to Destiny, Scarlet Witch, and Magneto. My team thusly decimated, I made a go of the fight but lost. Magneto reached godhood…on his last click. A Hypersonic Celestial put me down.

Round two was a highly enjoyable fight against the judge and his Avengers Movie Team (with special guest, Dr. Strange!) Helped by strong dice rolls, I won this one pretty handily. Juggernaut opened my assault by one-shotting FCBD Thor. Fun game.

Round three was against the mighty Nova Corps. My dice soured a bit, and a lot of lucky Super Senses rolls kept Juggernaut and Sabretooth from doing any serious harm, and I whittled his army down until Nova Prime hit 3 on the Gauntlet. After that, it was all over for me. Had a great time, but I just couldn’t keep up.
